AUSTRALIAN FEMALE BORN 2000 TEAM MAKING THEIR MARK IN EUROPE

Water Polo Australia’s Female Born 2000 team conclude their tour of Europe this week.
The Girls participated in the Pythia Cup in Itea, in the six nation tournament the girls faced tough opposition during the preliminary rounds going down narrowly to the host nation Greece and then Italy.
The Girls were not rattled by their earlier loses recording a convincing win over Serbia 12 – 7 in the play off for 5/6th position.
Coach Dusan Damjanovic was happy with the team performance and believed that it was a important learning experince for the team.
“The Girls were surprised by the intensity in the European style play.
We stepped up in every game of the Pythia Cup which was pleasing” said Damjanovic
Born 2000 team member Carla Traplin was thankful for the experience
“The tour was a positive learning experience, we have learnt to play a more aggressive style of water polo” said Traplin
Traplin also believed that the players had gained valuable experience in preparing themselves for tournaments
“We now understand the importance of Hydration, while in Europe we have been drinking up to 6 litres of water a day which is far more then we would drink back home”
The tour wraps up with training games against Greece and Netherlands.
